F w
Mine Land
Room 723,
Denver, Co
Gentlemen:
• III III IIIIIIIIII III •
March 20, 1980
and Reclamation Board
1313 Sherman St.
. 80203
Recently I received notice that application has been made for
I believe a gravel pit on Glen Chambers' property in Section 14
and Section 11, North of the Colorado River. I am the property
owner immediately to the east of this proposed project.
With this letter, I would like to officially object to such a
proposal. I have contacted the applicants and asked them to send
me a plan or map of what they intend to do, however, they have not
sent me any such master plan. Additionally, I have visited the
site and seen the condition that it is in. Enclosed are some
photographs of what I saw. To date the work has been done with
no apparent master plan or effort to restore the land to any
particular natural state. Additionally the way in which some
of the gravel is piled up I believe is a liability. Any children
playing around there could hurt themselves seriously by falling
off these piles.
I question the need for such a gravel pit, as it was only a few
years ago that the county sold land back to me that they had been
holding for a gravel operation. One of the reasons they sold it
back to me was that they claimed that there was no need in that
area for additional gravel mining.
Finally since I am immediately to the east and since the wind is
predominantly from the west, I would like to object as I feel we
will suffer some dust from this operation.
In the future probably at some point, the county will need additional
gravel, however, I don't think any approval should be granted without
showing all the neighbors as well as satisfying appropriate city and
county boards that a proper master plan will be implemented and that
the land will be restored in an attractive fashion. To date what
has happened is not exemplary of such an approach or attitude.
Consequently as the neighbor to the east I would like to object to
this approval. Thank you for your time.
c~o r
Il// G
ohn P. McB i e
JPMcB:jmr
AIRPORT BUSINESS CENTER • 105 PACIFIC AVE. ASPEN COLORAD081611 •30925-2102
