• PERMANENT DIVERSION NO.1 AND REFUSE COLLECTION DITCHES
This section contains the calculations utilized to design the diversion
and collection ditches associated with the refuse disposal area.
Specifically, those structures which handle surface drainage from an area
above the refuse disposal area and from the crest and face of the disposal
area include:
o Permanent Diversion No. 1
o Refuse Collection Ditches
Permanent Diversion No. 1 routes clean surface water from an area south
and west of the refuse pile to natural drainages. The refuse collection
ditches collect surface drainage from the refuse pile and route it to
Sedimentation Pond No. 4. The structure locations are shown on Figure 3,
Refuse Disposal Area Drainage Plan.
• The methodology utilized to complete the refuse area channel designs is
explained in detail in the Methodology Section of this exhibit. The
structure locations are shown on the Drainage and Sediment Control Map,
(Map 20), and design details are contained in figures within this exhibit.
Hydrology calculations and hydraulic design calculations are included for
Permanent Diversion No. 1 and each refuse collection ditch.
Permanent Diversion No. 1
Permanent Diversion No. 1 is located along the west boundary of the refuse
disposal area as shown on Figure 3, Refuse Disposal Area Drainage Plan.
This diversion routes surface runoff from an undisturbed area south and
west of the refuse pile to the north where it joins with natural drainage
beyond the disturbed area.
The diversion is divided into three (3) sections (Sections A, B and C)
• each having a different flow slope. All three (3) sections divert
undisturbed runoff from an area above the refuse storage area and are
therefore designed to safely pass the 100-year, 24-hour storm event
providing 0.3 feet of freeboard. The peak flow calculated by SEDCAD+ is
105
