Marr Mine -Borehole Reclamation Plan
January 29, 2002
Page 3
development; and installation, operation, and maintenance of any pumps or other equipment
necessary to provide for conststent water supply flows.
Well Pluggine, Reclamation and Reporting
For any wells that would not be retained for future beneficial use, Kerr would complete well plugging
and reclamation. Well plugging and reclamation would involve completion of the following activities,
which are consistent with CDMG Rules and Regulations for Surface Mining (4.07):
Pluetnne -
For boreholes or wells not completed in an identified aquifer, the holes would be ftlled with
drill cuttings, sand, or other suitable (non-tonic) materials to within 10 feet of the natural or
reclaimed ground surface and the remainder of the hole would be filled to within 3 feet of
the ground surface with cement.
For boreholes or wells completed in an identified aquifer(s), the plugging procedure would be
the same except that a cement or bentonite plug would extend at least 20 feet above and
below any water-bearing zone(s).
For boreholes or wells exhibiting artesian flows at the surface, plugging would involve
removal, perforating or ripping oC the casing in the saturated zone to allow plug placement
across the entire hole diameter. The cement or bentonite plug will extend from the bottom
of the hole to within 10 feet of the surface with a cement plug from the 10 foot level to
within 3 feet of the surface.
Surface Reclamation -
Surface reclamation would involve cutting off any casing extending above the ground surface
at or below ground level; collection and removal from the site for disposal of the casing and
any debris; backfilling of remaining casing and any holes level with the ground surface;
grading of the surface disturbance azea to blend with the surrounding teaain, and seeding to
reestablish a vegetative cover.
Filing of ~~/ell Abandonment Reports -
Within 60 days of completion of the borehole reclamation program, Kerr will complete and
file the appropriate well abandonment reports with the Office of the State Engineer and the
DMG.
Kerr plans to complete field borehole reclamation activities during the 2002 Geld season with
completion anticipated by August ]2, 2002. Assuming that the determination of potential for
beneficial use and BLM review and concurrence on well retention Eor beneficial use can occur in a
reasonable timeframe (i.e.: prior to the end of June 2002), this data is achievable.
