Banks and Gesso, LLC
moderate, prismatic and blocky structure. Below a depth of approximately 15 to 16
inches, the substratum is very pale brown or brown loam that is typically calcareous and
very gravelly and cobbly. The depth to bedrock is approximately 60 inches. Mesa soils
are not highly susceptible to erosion (USDA, SCS).
Rough broken land (Ru) is found on the steeply sloping sides of mesas. This land type
consists of a tiny sliver in the northeastern corner of the site and includes exposures of
sedimentary shale and sandstone, very gravelly alluvial material, colluvial debris and
shallow soils. It supports fair to good coverage of native grasses, sage, cactus and
brush (USDA, SCS).
Haldorson Sand and Gravel Mine
Haldorson and Sons, Inc.
April 2003
20
