• <br />INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW <br />Owens Brothers Concrete Company is proposing to mine sand and gravel from <br />property (i.e. the Del Camino property) located in southwestern Weld County near <br />St. Vrain Creek. The sand and gravel produced would be used to supply Owens <br />Brothers ready mix concrete batch plants. <br />The subject property is located in Section 32, Township 3 North, Range 67 West. <br />It contains a total of 105 acres. The surface, sand and gravel, and water rights are <br />owned by Owens Brothers Concrete Company. <br />The proposed post-mining land use is open water (pondsl. The property is currently <br />used for crops and petroleum development. The property has an existing residence <br />(owned and leased out by the Owens Brothersl, gas pipeline and oil well. The Last <br />Chance Ditch runs through the property. Surrounding land uses in the immediate <br />neighborhood are residences, agricultural and sand and gravel mining. <br />The permits/approvals required for this project are as follows: <br />• Weld County Use By Special Review (approved March 6, 19961; <br />• Air Quality Permit from the Colorado Department of Health; <br />• Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board (CMLRB) Permit; <br />• Colorado State Engineer water well permit & augmentation plan; and <br />• CPDS Discharge Permit. <br />
