LLAFARGE
NORTH AMERICA
Construction Materials
26. The estimated discharge rate during dewatering is 1,127 gpm and 1,141 gpm for the
winter and summer periods, respectively. Please refer to Duckworth Pit Groundwater
Study for additional information.
The total annual operational losses due to the mining operation during the first two yeazs
at the Duckworth Pit are projected to be 26.9 acre-feet. This includes evaporative losses.
product water retention, and dust control. Please refer to Application for Substitute
Supply Plan for additional information and calculations.
A "Commitment of Water Supply" can be found in the Application for Substitute Supply
Plan, dedicating a renewable water supply for the Duckworth Pit mining and reclamation
project water requirements.
27. As detailed in the enclosed Duckworth Pit Groundwater Study, discharging water into
the adjacent Lighthouse Cove pond will help maintain constant water level in the lake and
will also serve to stabilize the surrounding groundwater elevations by effectively
recharging the surrounding aquifer. There are no wells within 600 feet of this property,
please see Gravel Pit Well Permit Application.
28. The aquifer in which this mining operation will occur is identified and characterized in
the enclosed Duckworth Pit Groundwater Study. By mitigation efforts described above,
Lafarge does not expect the calculated drawdown to impact current groundwater users
because there aze no wells identified within 600 feet.
29. Please see the enclosed Application for Substitute Supply Plan, Gravel Pit Well Permit
Application, and Duckworth Pit Groundwater Study. There are no wells within 600 feet
of the permit area.
30. For your review, Lafarge has enclosed the CDPS Permit Application and subsequent
Authorization from the Water Quality Control Division. These documents detail how
water from dewatering of Duckworth Pit will be managed to protect against pollution of
surface groundwater during the mining operation. ARer the mining operation is
complete, dewatering will discontinue at the site.
31. All ditches within 200 feet of the affected land have been identified on Exhibit C. In
particular: the laterals located on the Duckworth property (owned by Mineral Reserves,
Inc.}, the lateral north of the property (owned by Lighthouse Cove Homeowner's
Association), laterals west of the property (owned by Aggregate Industries, Inc.). Water
collected during dewatering are going to be released into both Idaho Creek and Smith
and Emmons ditch. Lighthouse Cove pond will receive dewatering water indirectly, via
Smith & Emmons release.
