(:reyslune Devrlupmenl (;unsullanls, Inc.
•
June 10, 1986
Paqe 5.
Coal Moisture Loss
As projected in the December 3, 1984 OSM memorandum, coal
moisture loss has been determined to be insignificant with
respect to streamflow depletions.
Direct Diversions
Twentymile Coal Company has not proposed any direct diver-
sion of surface waters for mining operational use, therefore, no
impact will be associated with surface streamflow depletions.
Summary of Worst Case Depletions
Summary of water depletions for the Foidel Creek Mine
operations are as follows:
Pii ne consumption - 27 acre-feet per year loss
Ventilation consumption - 86 acre-feet per year loss
Coal processing consumption - no consumption
Sediment pond evaporation - insignificant
Subsidence effects on Springs and Seeps - insignificant
Alluvial well pumpage - no consumption
Alluvial aquifer abstraction into mine - 60 acre-feet per year
predicted loss, however, 405 acre-feet per year augmentation
from deep aquifers
Deep aquifer pumpage - 27 acre-feet per year augmentation
Postmining inflow to workings - insignificant
Coal moisture loss - insignificant
Direct diversion - no consumption
From the calculations listed above, mining operations at the
Foidel Creek Mine should result in streamflow augmentation over
the life of the operation. As a result, TCC requests a "no
effect" opinion on impacts related to surface water depletions.
•
Revised 10/24/86
