<br />6.3 Wildlife. <br />(1) Safety and protection of wildlife with special attention to critical periods in the life cycle of <br />those species which require special consideration. <br />No special safety or protection methods aze proposed in the D.O.W. report. Neither does the D.O.W. <br />report for the species listed suggest critical periods in their life cycles that will be affected by this <br />operation. <br />The surrounding rangeland would indicate that there is no shortage of this type of habitat in the area. <br />(2) Habitat management is not proposed as part of the rangeland reclamation plan submitted for this <br />operation. <br />6.5 Topsoiling. <br />(1) Topsoil will be segregated and stockpiled for use in reclamation. If these stockpiles remain for <br />over 1 growing season, they will be seeded with 6#/A wheatgrass to preserve the integrity of the <br />topsoil. No acid or toxic material will be involved with this operation. <br />(2) Any woody vegetation on the affected area will be put to use, as per the BLM, i.e. Slash/Mulch. <br />(3) Topsoil will be stockpiled on the pit perimeters and will be of a low configuration to prevent <br />erosion. These stockpiles will not be disturbed by the ongoing mining operation. <br />(4) Topsoil will not be rehandled until it is replaced on the re-graded areas in the reclamation phase. <br />(5) The soils in the affected are primarily: <br />Rizozo-Neville Complex <br />Rizozo Rock Outcrop Complex <br />Ustic-Torriorthents - Sedillo Complex <br />There are no other more suitable materials on site for sustaining vegetation. <br />(6) Growing media (topsoil) will be replaced in an even a manner as possible at an avereage depth <br />of 0" - 4" when available -see NRCS report cited earlier. <br />(7) There will be no vegetative piles to be removed or utilized in reclamation. <br />
