(b) Earthmoving
As stated in (a) above, earthmoving is proposed to be done primarily with dozers and/or front-end
loaders. If the terrain and material should allow, it is possible that scrapers could be used for part of
the earthmoving.
(c) Water Diversion and Impoundments
This will be a dry pit operation with no effect on the hydrology or water rights of the area. The
applicant will secure a Stormvvater Discharge Permit and prepare a Stonnwater Management Plan
(SWMP) as required by the Water quality Control Division (WQCD), Colorado Department of
Health, based on the requirements of the Federal NPDES Program.
(d) Size of area to be worked at any one time and associated disturbance classifications.
The applicant proposes to operate this pit on a Floating Bond program as described earlier. As
indicated on the Mining Plan and Timetable Map in Exhibit C, 4 separate phases are proposed for this
operation.
Phase 1 -State Lease -contains 7.3 acres and 6.0 acres will be affected.
Phase 2 - BLM Lease -contains 49.40 A with a maximum 12.7 A being affected at any one time.
Phase 3 -Patton Lease -contains 65.30 A and will have a maximum of 14 A being affected at any
one time.
Phase 4 -contains 9.0 A and will be the final phase of this project. It is possible that the entire 9.0
A will be operated as a unit.
Disturbance areas are proposed as follows: Maximum disturbance will not exceed 20A
(i) Major Disturbance: 5 - 11 A, will include excavations, overburden and topsoil stockpiles and
backfilling of any open cut.
(ii) Moderate Disturbance: 3 - 5 A will include the leveling of overburden and the smooth grading
and distribution of topsoil. There will be no:
1. Stabilization of waste dumps
2. Railroads
3. Evaporation or settling ponds
4. Leaching dumps
5. Waste storage or dschazge area
6. Structures of any kind on site
