Section 785.19 (c) Continued.

Water Quantity. Stream-flow has been measured in the study area by
by the United States Geological Survey at gaging station number
09243800 on Foidel Creek, north of Pinnacle Peak. USGS gaging
hydrographs of these data are presented in Table 13, USGS Gaging
Station Measurements. As these data indicate, water availability
in the study area is erratic from year to year and continuous flow
occurs only two months out of the year in response to snowmelt.
The average annual flow measured at USGS Gaging Station 09243800
is about 245 acre-feet. This gaging station has a 5,440 acre
contributing watershed in Eckman Park, including the study area.
The amount of available water in Eckman Park for the entire year
is only 0.05 acre-feet per acre of watershed. This is much less
than the two acre-feet of water per acre from May 1st to September
15th required for flood irrigation in the OSM Technical Guide-
line. Therefore, water quantity in the Eckman Park study area is
inadequate for flood irrigation.
•
Aerial Photograph Analysis
Aerial photographic coverage of the mine plan, adjacent, and
general area was provided by OSM personnel in Denver, Colorado. A
sample of three color infrared aerial photographs with interpre-
tations by a private consultant is provided in Exhibit 12, Color
Infrared Aerial Photography.
The photographs are at a scale of approximately 1:34,000 and were
taken in September, 1978. The three photographs cover the mine
plan and adjacent area as follows:
Photo No. 616: Energy Mine No. 1 and Middle Creek
Photo No. 630: Energy Mine No. 2 and Fish Creek
Photo No. 632: Eckman Park Mine and Foidel Creek
The photographs show the fall season differences in vegetative
growth between upland and valley floor areas. These photos, along
• with a set of black and white aerial photos giving sterographic
785-15
