K .. <br />D ELTA, COLOR AD081416 <br />690 Industrial Park <br />May 9, 1978 <br />Delta County Commissioners <br />Delta County Court House <br />Delta Colorado 81416 <br />Dear Sirs: <br />Re: Mined Land Reclamation Permit <br />Pit Name -Pig Mesa Gravel Pit <br />Location, Legal -Part of Ei NE's, Nz Nz SE'~,SW`~ NE's Sect. 4, T155,R95W, 6th P.M. <br />Sise - 9.05 acres of a 160 acre tract. <br />Area lies -Approximately 1 mile SW of Cory, Colo. <br />PTEVlOllS Use - Rangeland and a Gravel Pit <br />Previous Plants - Predominantely, Mat Saltbush, Cactii and Shadscale on the <br />upland part with Cottonwood and willows on the river-bottom <br />part. <br />Soils -Numerous soils from Alluvial riverbottom to barren shale on 1-40% <br />slopes. <br />Top Soil -The predominant area is a silty clay loam 0 to 19 inches deep. <br />gravel greater then 1~" - 8-10 % est. <br />Gravel Depth - 40-50 ft. <br />Soil under gravel - Shale <br />Water table - at 2-6 feet on the riverbottom: none on the upland. <br />Flood Plain - Occasional on the riverbottom: none on the upland. <br />Re~~vegetation: On the designated 9.05 acres. <br />To re-vegetate the site after mining is completed the base should <br />be returned to as near level as is practical or not to exceed 3:1 <br />slope. Top soil should be spread at least 6 inches deep and <br />smoothed over the area. <br />The site will not be irrigated so dryland species of grasses should <br />be used for site re-seeding. <br />The following mixture is recommended per acre. <br />30% Yellow Sweet clover X 3.5= 1.0 lb. PLS <br />50% Western Wheatgrass X 8.0= 4.0 lbs. PLS <br />20% Crested Wheatgrass X 5.0- 1.0 lb. PLS <br />Total 6.0 lbs. PLS <br />PLS = Pure Live Seed. <br />A late fall seeding date is usually better for native species so the <br />seed lays dormant over winter and has early spring moisture for <br />germination and establishment. <br />If you have any questions concerning this report, please contact us. <br />
