GARY RINDERLE CONSTRUCTION, INC.
P.O. BOX 1300
CLIFTON, CO 81520-1380
Telephone (970) 434-0510
Fax )970)434-6510
May 9, 2005
Bureau of Land Management
Subject: Site Conditions for Sub Surface Exploration BLM East of 32 Road
Sub surface exploration of site nt proposed Upland #3 Gravel Pit located on BLM Land East of 32 Road
and North of the A~ Road alignment east of Orchard Mesa Gun Club property and property owned by
applicant.
The Sub surface exploration was completed on May 4, 2005 using an 888 Case Excavator in the locations
shown on the attached map.
Six pits were excavated to a depth of approximately 18 ?feet. The surface elevation of the pits ranged
from 5,012 ft to 5,017 ft with the estimated bottom range of the gravel to be approximately 4,992 feet
elevation.
As shown in the attached excavation logs, the overburden ranged from four (4) feet in pits #3 & 5, to ten
(10) feet in pit #2 with gravel appearing at 5,011 ft elevation in pit #4 and at elevation 5,006 ft in test
pit #1.
In all test pits, the gravel layer extended to the limits of the excavation and is assumed to extend to the.
elevation of the exposed Inyer on the edge of the Mesa where gravel is located which is approximately
4,992 ft and an average top of gravel elevation of 5,008 ft.
Using these values allows for nn average gravel depth of 16 ft which would equate to approximately
25,000 cubic yards per acre.
Allowing for a contract sale of 250,000 cubic yards and a time period of five (5) years this would be ten
(10) acres of mined area.
If the entire 53 acres proposed were mined of the rate of 60,000 cubic yards per year, the mine should
yield 1,325,000 cubic yards over a period of 22 years.
Because of the low visual and use impact of this gravel pit and the fact that there are existing gravel pits
both the north and south of this location, it appears to be an excellent use of this BLM resource.
Sincerely,
Gary Rinderle ~
