Inc., mine plan, a number of sediment control
ponds will have to be installed from time to time. As up-to-date sediment
ponds B,C,D, and temporary ponds are constructed as planned, sediment ponds
F and G will be constructed in the summer of 1982 and sediment pond E will
be deleted owing to changes in mine planning.
e
This is an active surface coal mine. All run-off is collected and contained
by a system of collection (diversion ditches) and holding ponds designed to
contain a 10-year, 24-hour precipitation event. If necessary, GEC Minerals
will submit data which verifies that containment or treatment structures
have been designed and constructed for the 10-year, 24-hour precipitation
event. The 10-year, 24-hour precipitation event for these facilities shall
be 3.0 inches. The rain gauges of record shall be Canon City Station, Index
No. 1294. ~~
Attached please find the map to specify each individual sediment control
pond, its location, size and the related collection/diversion ditch for your
review.
GEC Minerals, Inc., appreciates the opportunity to submit the additional
ponds information for existing NPDES Waste Discharge Permit Expansion in a
productive manner. Should you have any questions regarding this sub-
mission, please do not hesitate to call us.
Sincerely urs,
.~
L. K. CHEN
VP - Engineering 8 Planning
cc: F. E.
