SIMPSON, CHIEF, WATER MANAGEMENT BRANCH
SUBJECT: LA POUDRE SAND & GRAVEL, APPLICATION FOR A LIMITED IMPACT
MINING AND RECLAMATION PERMIT
As requested by your office, we have reviewed the application for a gravel
pit near Windsor. The applicant has provided insufficient information con-
cerning his use of water in the proposed mining operation. The report
states that water will be required for dust control, sanitation, or other
purposes, therefore, we recommend that the Board be provided with addi-
tional information concerning the source and amounts of water to be used,
If water from the dewatering operation is spread on the adjoining pasture as
shown on the drawing in the rear of the report, a well permit for irrigation
would have to be obtained. The applicant would have to obtain approval of
a plan of augmentation before any well permit will be issued. This would
also be needed if the applicant plans to use the ground water for the mining
operation. The applicant must have a well permit prior to using the pit
water to be in compliance with state statutes, CRS 1973, 37-90-137.
Q . ,~"
Hal D.
