~= Rh~b•t iq /nl. Z
UJ~oming Fuel Compon~
• INTEROOFFICE CORRESPONDENCE
TO: Mike Kolin ~~.. "~ November 10, 1987
FROM: Dave Stout
iN qE: Results of Required Annual Pond Surveys - Ponds 006 & 007,
New Elk [dine, Permit C-012-81
On August 25, 1987, Steve Magnuson and I surveyed Ponds 006 and
007. The results are attached. Pond U07 requires 6.6 acre-feet
of capacity above the 10U8 sediment level to handle a 10-year
24-hour runoff event. Currently this pond has 5.9 acre-feet of
capacity. WFC needs to remove 0.7 acre feet or approximately
1,129 cubic yards. Approximately 1,111 cubic yards could be
removed by cleaning an area 200 feet east of the inlet 75 feet
wide and 2 feet deep.
The total surveyed volume for Pond 006 was 3.U4 acre-feet.
Design volume is 3.2 acre-feet. WFC should remove 0.16 acre-feet
or approximately 258 cubic yards. WFC can accomplish this by
removing approximately 2 feet of sediment in an area 90 feet from
the inlet and 40 feet wide. Total volume removed defined by this
area will be approximately 266 cubic yards.
In addition to these cleaning efforts, WFC must also complete
• construction of Pond 006 as per design. Attached are the design
specifications which includes the pumping system, construction of
the emergency spillway and gated principal spillway.
Design criteria for Ponds 006 and 007 can be found in Exhibit 19,
Volume 2 of the New Elk Permit Application.
DS/sb/61
CC: S.
