' ~ ~~
Page Five January 15, 1980
1. General
a. The Division of Wildlife is reviewing this portion of
the application. A copy of their findings will be
sent at a future date.
ANSWER: N/A
F. Exhibit J - Vegetation Information
1. We will need a detailed baseline vegetation inventory.
This can be obtained through the U.S. Soil Conservation
Service.
ANSWER: The following grasses dominate the area: (1) Boote Louabuchioe -
(Blue Grammy - Buffalo Grass), (2) Agropyron Smithii - (Western Wheat-
grass), (3) Diatichiis Stricta - (Salt Grass), and (4) Sporoboius
Airoides - (Alkali Sacaton); with the largest areas being salt grass and
alkali sacaton.
G. Exhibit L - Reclamation Costs
1. Please specify the maximum number of acres that will be
in the major, moderate and minor disturbance categories
at any paint in time.
ANSWER: 100 Acres +- will be the maximum area to be disturbed at one
time as follows: (1) 40 acres - Major Disturbance, (2) 50 acres - Mod-
erate Disturbance, and (3) 10 acres - Minor Disturbance
2. Please figure reclamation costs for all phases of the
reclamation process. The staff will use this information
as a guide for bonding purposes.
ANSWER: Reclamation process cost per phase is very difficult to figure.
The reclamation process will be continually taking place. As extraction
is completed in one area and processing moved to the next area, the
completed area will then be reclaimed. As new areas are opened up, old
areas will have topsoil replaced.
As soon as topsoil is replaced, ground will be made ready for
planting, soil testing, fertilizing, etc. Drilling of seed to follow
as soon as suitable moisture and weather permit. Approximate cost is:
(1) $6.00 to $8.00 per acre for fertilizer, (2) $2.00 per acre for appli-
cation of fertilizer, (3) $20.00 per acre for seed, (4) $5.00 per acre
for oat nurse crop, (5) $2.00 per acre for planting, and (6) $63.00
per acre for preparing seed bed for a total of $100.00.
H. Exhibit M - Local Government Approval
