(Coal Exploration Activity in Castor Gulch of Moffat Co.) <br />Dear Mr. Burnell, <br />For Wildlife- <br />For People <br />E. <br />On September 23` 2005, the CDOW Meeker Service Center received a letter regarding an application to <br />conduct coal exploration activity at Trapper Mine. On September 29 2005, I discussed the proposed <br />coal exploration activities with Trapper Mine staff. Mr. Forrest Luke, environmental manager, <br />represented Trapper Mine and outlined the proposed exploration. <br />Mr. Luke stated that five deep core drilling pads would be utilized in the exploration activities. The total <br />surface disturbance of these drilling pads will amount to less than two acres. Each pad will have one <br />associated sediment pond. The exact location of the pads are in the Castor Gulch area of Moffat County <br />(T6N -R91 W -Sec 34 -SE '/s and T5N -R91 W -Sec I & 2). Mr. Luke indicated that all of these sites he <br />within the existing permit area of the mine. In addition two of the sites are within active or reclaimed <br />areas of the mine. The Division of Wildlife has no objection to the request of this exploration or related <br />reclamation activity at these sites. <br />Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this proposal.
