Gunnison No. 1 Mine
located near Somerset, Colorado. The.Mine Plan
charge is aniror in nature and merely involves . a
change of direction of the main entries that pro-
vide access to the major portion of the F ccal seam.
Exhibit A identifies the original nine plan and
Exhibit B identifies the revised direction of mining.
This change is the result of final definite mine
desicn and engineering co:apleted after the October,
1579 submission of the Pi6R Plan. Geologic data
collected and illustrated in Exhibit C, has indicated
that portions of the southeast section of Section 15
and the northeast section fo Section 21 are likely to
be subject to adverse mining ccnditions such as sand-
store channeling, roof and floor weathering, severe
topographic changes, roof fract~_ring, and possible
hydrologic problems. Our mining experience to date,
idicates that geologic conditions are being fairly
well predicted by the Geologic Conditions D;ap (Ex-
h.ibit c~ .
Miring into and through such poor conditions will not
only be very difficult and expensive, but such conditions
would likely be very unsafe for mine personnel and
ecuipmeat. Furthermore, maintaining the lops-term
stability of these entries would be •:ery difficult and
expensive.
.n addition, exploratory coal data sF.oe:s t'.^~t t`e coal
_.. t!:e=_e areas i s of very peon c::alit_v.
