SUMMARY
In brief, this study has involved geotechnical logging and
testing of Upper Wheeler Seam roof, Upper Wheeler Seam coal,
interburden, Lower Wheeler Seam coal and Lower Wheeler Seam
floor in two drill holes. Logging and testing results were used
to ascertain potential future ground control conditions using
hydraulic mining methods. The following conclusions have
resulted:
1 - Rock strengths are generally moderate
to high except for claystones which
are relatively low. Slaking may occur
in exposed siltstones and claystones.
No swelling problems are expected.
2 - Coal strengths are probably moderate
and typical of what should be expected.
3 - Future ground control conditions are
projected to include good roof control,
good floor bearing capacity and fair
• cavability in gob areas.
s
i~
SEEGMLLlER INTERNATIONAL
