•
•
fragments. The exact composition apparently depends on whether
the origin of the fill is a cut in colluvium or in bedrock.
The crushing and screening Level Eill at the location of
Boring B-3 was principally clayey material. Test pits ex-
cavated at representative Locations within other fills in-
dicate that a higher gravel content is probably typical for
those other fills. This suggests that the shear strength para-
meters developed from triaxial tests on samples taken from
Boring B-3 may be conservative when applied to other fills.
Boring B-3 indicated the crushing and screening level
fill to be generally soft to medium stiff for the upper
30 feet, becoming generally medium stiff to stiff below this
level. This suggests that this fill has been constructed with-
out systematic compaction, as is believed to be the case for
all other fills as well. The water content of the fill varies
between about 10 % and 20 %.
• ~~
'I - 1"_' -
GE6MYDR0 CONSULTING.INC.
