• BECTION 2.06
Requirements for Permits for special Categories of Mining
2.06.1(1) Experimental practices mining; not
applicable.
2.06.1(2) Mountain top removal mining; not
applicable.
2.06.1(3) Steep slope mining; not applicable. Seven
slope measurements within the pit (See Disturbance Map 5-1 for
Location) give slopes as follows:
Slope Designation Rise (ft.)/Run (ft.1 Percentage
Degrees
1-2 140'/590' = 23.7
13.3
3-4 140'/760' = 18.4
10.4
5-6 130'/640' = 20.3
11.5
7-8 150'/510' = 29.4
16.4
• 9-10 120'/530' = 22.6
12.8
11-12 170'/580' = 29.3
16.3
13-14 240'/660' = 36.4
20.0
Average = 25.7%
14.4°
Thus, the operation involves average slopes less than 20
degrees.
2.06.1(4) Variances from approximate original
contour restoration requirements for steep slope mining; a
variance from approximate original contour has been submitted
for the north pit which would leave portions of the rock low
wall exposed. This is not actually a variance from
approximate original contour since the slope of the post
mining surface is essentially the same as the premining slope.
More on this section can be seen on the reclamation of the low
wall in the reclamation sections. The applicant has submitted
portions of its reclamation plan dealing with reclamation of
the North Pit that involves placing four feet of overburden on
fractured sandstone. OEI reserves the right to modify this
configuration if it is found to be impractical or unsuitable
to stability for the spoil.
6-1
