Lanti
Division Dircclor
RE: Permit No. C-81-022, TR-32, Reclamation Cost Estimate
Deaz Ms. Welt:
r1
U
Attached is a copy of DMG's Reclamation Cost Estimate for the Sanborn Creek
Mine, TR-32. The new tasks, related to the Elk Creek Mine, aze tasks 5, 6, part of the
volume in task 16, 38, 39, 51, 59, part of task 62, 8.6 acres in tasks 68 and 69, 81, 82, 90a
and part of the hours in task 100. The estimate represents a total liability of
$2,738,513.00 and is an increase in liability of $413,659.00 (from the currently approved
amount of $2,324,854.00).
As I explained on the phone, the entire bond calculation was redone for this
technical revision. The reason it was redone entirely is because of recent DMG changes
to the demolition program and updated demolition costs. in previous DMG estimates
(with the new program) demolition costs have decreased about 25%, resulting in
decreased liabilities (and decreased bond amounts being held by the Division). The
estimate for the Sanborn Creek Mine is no different. The cost for demolition in the
approved estimate is $1,110,026.00. The new cost (for the same demolition work) is
$745,988.00 (which is $364,038.00 or 33% less). By recalculating the entire bond we
avoid having to lower the liability in the future (with PR-04).
If you have any questions regazding this reclamation cost estimate please contact
either Jim Stazk or myself.
Sincerely,
e~~ti
Sandra L. Brown
~ ~-~
Environmental Protection Specialist
• Attachment
cc. Jerry Nettleton, w/attachment
