": <br />WATER RESOURCES <br />CORTEZ PIT - NIELSONS, INC. <br />The Cortez Pit is a completely dry source of sand and gravel. the <br />operation is one of quarry work and is located approximately one hun- <br />dred (100) feet in elevation above PfcElmo Creek. Material mined is <br />sandstone and no surface or ground water is present. Because no water <br />will be discharged into the creek, a permit is not required by the <br />Colorado Department of Health (see attached letter, dated July 22, <br />1976). <br />No irrigation ditches or water wells are in the adjacent area, and <br />it is expected that the operation will in no way affect the area <br />water resources. <br />The only requirement for caater will be for dust abatement on the crush- <br />er. This requirement will be met by obtaining water at Nielsons' shop <br />which is located just south of the pit site. <br /> <br />
