EXHIBIT A - Leaat Description
The pit area is approximately 9.9 acres in the E 1/2 of Section 32 and the W 1/2 of
Section 33, all in T2N, R44W of the 6th P.M., Yuma County, Colorado. Delineator
boundary posts will be set to mazk the pit areas as shown on the map.
EXHIBIT B -Site Description
a) Ve eg tation -
Native grasses and sagebrush currently cover the pit area. The azea is
sparsely vegetated and has to be closely managed when grazed.
Overgrazing will cause erosion and loss of the grass population.
Soil Information -
The Natural Resource Conservation Service soil maps show two soils
within the pit area. They are both Valent Sand. The only difference
between the two soil profiles is the slopes where they exist The primary
slopes within the pit area range from 1 to 15 percent. The soils consist of
deep, excessively drained soils on sand hills. Permeability is typically
very rapid. Surface runoff is slow. Water erosion is a moderate hazazd
and soil blowing is a severe hazazd. The soil is an excellent source of
good sand that is the material to be mined at this site.
b) Permanent man-made structures
There are two electric power poles in the pit azea. No other permanent man-
made structures lie within 200 feet of the pit boundaries.
c) Water resources
The pit site lies north of the Chief Creek tributary to the Republican River.
The normal water table below the site is about 25-30 feet below the surface.
Excavation will stop prior to an encounter with the water table. The
anticipated mining depth will be 20 feet. Thus, no water should affect mining
efforts. Rainfall can cause the pit area to be unworkable for short periods,
Since the Valent Sand is highly permeable, rainwater will quickly soak in and
Leave the pit azea dry again. Rainfall in the azea averages about 16.7 inches
per year. The site will generally not be impacted by water.
