I
I
SO = L S = N FO R M A T I O N
S X H= S I T =
Two soil types occur on site, Loveland clay loam (64> and
I Paoli fine Bendy loam C81), and are described by the Soil
Conservation Service Larimer County Soil Survey, ea follows.
I 64-Loveland clay loom, O to 1 percent slopes, makes up
approximately 90 percent of the permit area. Thies level soil is
on low terraces and flood plains and are underlain by send and
I gravel at a depth of 20 to 40 inches.
Included with this soil in mapping are a few small areas of
soils that are more eloping, small areas of soils in which
I gravel is at a depth of 40 to 60 inches, and a few small areas
of soils that hove a surface layer of loam.
I In a representative profile, the surface layer is mottled
dark greyish brown or grayish brown clay loam about 15 inches
thick. The underlying material is 17 inches of grayish brown
' clay loam aver send, gravel end cobbles.
Runoff is slow and the hazard of water erosion is alight.
Permeability is moderately slow above a depth of about 32 inches
' and very rapid below that depth. The available water capacity
is medium to high. Reaction la mildly alkaline above a depth of
about eight inches and moderately alkaline below that depth.
I
B1-Paoli fine sandy loam, O to 1 percent slopes makes up
approximately 10 percent of the site. This is a level, well
I drained soil on low terraces.
Runoff la slow. The hazard of water erosion is slight, and
the hazard of wind erosion is moderate. Permeability is moder-
' ately rapid, and the available water capacity is high. Reaction
is moderately alkaline above n depth of 22 inches and moderately
elakline below that depth.
I In a representative profile, the surface layer is dark
grayish brown fine sandy loam about 4 inches thick. The under-
I lying material is brown fine sandy loam.
Presently there is approximately 9,250 yds3 of topsoil
stockpiled et the Eaat permit boundary. It hea been mixed with
I manure received from CSU et two parts topsoil to one part manure
(2:1). The topsoil presently on-site exceeds the required
amount for the entire operation.
I Topsoil may continue to be stripped et en 8-12 inch depth
and stockpiled for redistribution during reclamation.
I
I-1
I
