The Service agrees with the majority of the
reclamation plan, but they do have a few areas of concern. The first area of concern deals
with topsoil replacement. It is suggested that all graded slopes be ripped or disced prior to
topsoil placement. The applicant commits to this procedure.
The neM section of comments addressed the seeding method and mulching. Seeding with
a drill was recommended over broadcast seeding. Determination of whether drill seeding is
feasible will depend on slope. It is suggested that mulching will be crimped into the soil after
it is applied. When the slope allows, seeding will be done with drill seeding equipment.
Native hay mulch will be crimped into the soil.
The last section deals with weed management. There is a current plan to control noxious
weeds. It has been suggested that a plan to control annual and biennial weeds also be
implemented. If annual and biennial weeds become a problem they will be cut and or sprayed
with an appropriate herbicide.
The basic seeding mixtures of the plan were approved and the seeding rates were within the
recommended range. If you have any questions or commments on this letter please feel free
to contact us.
Engineering 8 Environmental Services
