VIII. RGSULT'S OI~ ANAI.YSI:S
~, Raw experimental data which provide input for
calculations and evaluations of extracted water soluble sa1Cs
from coal seam interburden are contained in the body of the text,
Section IX, and are so labeled. Radioactivity analyses of
extraction solutions, ,geomascans for trace elements, and chemical
analyses for possible toxic substances, as well as water analyses
for nearby streams recently sample d, are also discussed.
Among the data found in Section IX are pH and electrical
conductivity measurements for solutions extracted at' 1:1 (Table IV),
with 19 samples representing overburden strata ta[cen from dif-
ferent depths between the surface and X seam. The results derived
and calculated from these measurements are presented in Table V.
Table VI, Section IX, contains the measured concentrations
of bcth cations and anions found in 1:1 extraction solutions.
In this table, one finds data compiled, in concentration terms
• of meq + + ++ ++
./liter, for the cations Na K Ca and hfg as cae11
as their summation ~ 1`ie+. Nfeasured values of the anions HC03 ,
S04 C1 F P04- also appear in Table VI. Table IX shows
test data for possible to>:ic elements boron and selenium, as caeli
as ammonium ion (NH,~+) and total nitrite + nitrate (N OZ + N03 ).
Derived results such as E (anions), and calculated Sodium
Absorption Ratios are shown in Tables VIII and XII.
Analyses performed on solutions extracted under
saturated soil conditions are given in Tables XIII and XIV,
where oite finds raw conductivity data and specific ion analy-
ses reported in meq./liter. Estimated Exchangeable Sodium
Percentages are shown in Table XVII.
Table XV contains corrected and computed data for
comparing the results of conductivity and cation analyses from
• saturation extracts taken from Tables XIII and XIV. Table XVI
presents derived values for sodium adsorption ratio (SAR) and
estimated E.S.P. values based on raw data also found in Tables
XIII and XIV, Section IX.
