`, ~ ~ ~ r <br />~ol~- ' <br />SU! `~ \. <br />vJ ~ . - <br />_~ - - . <br />TOPSOIL QUALITY AT THE TIPPLE <br />Topsoil was removed from areas to be disturbed at the <br />coal loadout facilities during the fall"of 1977'and spring <br />of 1978. All topsoil was stockpiled and seeded. <br />Based on field estimates it appears that approximately <br />10-15 inches of topsoil was removed from all disturbed <br />areas. <br />To get ah estimate of topsoil quality, soil samples were <br />taken from topsoil stockpiles at the tipple. The results <br />are shown in Table 1 and Table 2. <br />The chemical analysis shows that all 3 samples are <br />fertile. It appears that this topsoil should be able to <br />supply the proper nutrients to establish grass species <br />during reclamation. <br />• <br /> <br />
