Shelton
Director
As you know, the Minecl Land Reclamation Board agreed to continue consideration
of the permit applications referenced above until the June 23-24, 1982 meeting
when all applications will be presented. The Board also voted to allow
District 1 to haul gravel from the Spring Valley Pit for 30 days to meet
emergency road maintenance requirements, and to allow District 2 to haul enough
gravel from the Corli:;s Pit to complete the preparation of 2 miles of roads.
We appreciate your efforts to be present at the meeting and hope the whole
matter of fines, mining and reclamation plans can be resolved next month. I
am enclosing a copy o:` the newly adopted performance warranty form approved
by the Board. County governments are not required to post a financial warranty
for mining operations, but the performance warranty must be executed, using
the appropriate Zegal descriptions and file numbers for each permit application.
The legal description:> should be prepared as "Exhibit A" and attached to the
documents.
Please contact me when you have selected a site which you will offer to reclaim
in Lieu of the civil penalty the MLR Board discussed at the April, 1982 meeting.
It would be a good idea to get a reclamation recommendation from the SCS and
prepare a site map. ]'eel free to call me if you need further guidance in
this matter.
I will contact your d::strict foremen directly regarding the finishing touches
to the mining plans.
S n--ffere
~1~ ~~~
Peter Ii.
