• EXHIBIT A • <br />The permittee shall be responsible for the maintenance of that portion(s) of <br />FDR #571A used as follows: <br />A. The permittee shall remove slides, boulders, fallen timber, overhanging brush and <br />other material obstructing safe road sight distance as requested by the Forest• <br />Service during periods of use. <br />B. Replace fills and surfacing lost or worn out and/or which have been compressed <br />below the original grade and cross section. <br />C. Keeg drainage channels ditches, and culverts clear of debris and functioning as <br />intended. <br />D, Blade and shape surface and shoulders to maintain the original cross section and <br />provide a suitable running surface. Earth and debris from side ditches, slides, <br />or other sources shall not be left on the road or mixed into the surfaced portions <br />of the road. Blading must not undercut banks nor shall gravel or other selected <br />surfacing material be bladed off of the surfaced width. Material from slides or <br />other sources requiring removal from the road shall be deposited in locations <br />approved by the Forest Service. <br />E. All maintenance work shall be performed currently. In addition, at the end of each <br />operating season, maintenance work will be done to minimize damage from adverse <br />weather. such work shall include final blading to remove ruts and other irreg- <br />ularities that would prevent normal road surface runoff, and final clearing of <br />drainage ditches and culverts to insure satisfactory functioning of the road <br />drainage system. <br />F. SNOW REMOVAL. To provide access, permittee may remove snow from that (those) <br />portion(s) of FDR #571A used for access to the extent necessary <br />to ensure safe and efficient transportation and to prevent excessive erosion <br />damage to roads, streams, and other Forest values. <br />Snow removal work shall include: (1) removal of snow from all or part of the <br />traveled way, including sufficient turnouts for safe and efficient use for <br />transportation and, (2) leaving culvert inlets in a natural condition without <br />snow placed into them so that the drainage system will function normally. <br />Permittee shall perform snow removal work as follows: <br />(1) All debris, except snow and ice, that is removed from the road surface and <br />ditches shall be deposited away from stream channels at agreed upon <br />locations. <br />(2) Banks shall not be undercut nor shall gravel or other surfacing material be <br />bladed off of the road. <br />(3) Ditches and culverts shall be kept functional throughout the year. <br />(4) "Snow Berm" is herein defined as a dike of snow resulting from permitted <br />snow removal operations which extends above the surface of the traveled way. <br />(3) <br />
