= Reclamation Success Standard Y • We feel and recommend that the herbaceous reference area selected does ~; not represent what will be the reclamation goal to be achieved by CWI and, therefore, should not be used exclusively for the reclamation success standard. • After two years of vegetation analysis on various sites in and around the OVt•1, we have concluded that a naturally occurring grassland with clumps of shrubs such as proposed in the reclamation of the OVP1 does not exist. There- ~~ fore, we propose to adopt an artificial standard. We have conducted a litera- _ ture survey of vegetation information from the Paonia area which could be used to identify the herbaceous cover and production which may be typical of the - region. Table 2 presents some of the more pertinent data. The data from ,; adjacent mines represents naturally occurring communities such as the 1981 s reference areas at OVt•1. Data from the Soil Conservation Service range sites - present the ideal or optimum situation where the range site is in excellent condition.
