<br />Applegate <br />~ Group, ~~~. <br />April 5, 2001 <br />Mr. Kevin Rein, PE <br />State Engineer's Office <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 818 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />RE: Application for Substitute Supply Plan for the Mann Lake Pit, M-82-147 <br />Dear Mr. Rein: <br />The purpose of this letter is to request approval of a substitute water supply plan pursuant to <br />Section 37-80-120 (2) C.R.S. on behalf of Western Mobile, Inc., a subsidiary of Lafarge <br />Corporation (Lafarge), for tl~e Mann Lake sand and gravel mining operation. <br />A check made out to the Division of Water Resources for $1343.00 for the gravel pit substitute <br />supply plan review is attached to this letter. A gravel pit well permit and the $60.00 fee will be <br />submitted in a separate letter and should be received soon after this plan. <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br />The Mann Lake Pit is located in Commerce City in Adams County near the intersection of <br />County RD 3l and East 120a' Avenue. The east boundary of the site runs near the South Platte <br />River. The site is located in Section 34 and the SE'/, of We SE % ofSection 33, Township 1 <br />South, Range 67 West, 6'" P.M. Figure 1 is a vicinity map of the subject site. <br />The site will be dry mined, afid groundwater will be exposed in 2 dewatering trenches, a wash <br />pond, settling ponds, and an existing pond. The site will be mined for approximately five more <br />years. After reclamation, the site will be a lined lake. <br />The applicant will make replaicements for the mining depletions from a nontributary Arapahoe <br />Aquifer well owned by the applicant.
