Colorado 80222-1530 <br />Re: Discharge Monitoring Report- 2"d Quarter, 2004 <br />New Elk Mine -Permit No. CO-0000906 <br />Enclosed are the DMR's for the above referenced permit for the Second quarter of 2004. Discharge <br />occurred only through pond 8. Please note that there were no discharges Gom any of the other permitted <br />sites during the quarter, The mine is requesting the application of the Alternate Limitations (for events less <br />than or equal to the 10-year, 24-hour precipitation event) for Total Iron and'folal Suspended Solids for the <br />samples and sample events detailed below. <br />Run-off from heavy snow fall during the weekend of April 9-I 1 resulted in a discharge from pond 8 on <br />April 11, 2004. The water content of the snow measured 0.8" at the New Elk Mine. Rwt-off from mixed <br />rain and snow April 29-30 resulted in a discharge from pond 8 on April 30, 2004. 'fhe water content of the <br />precipitation event measured 1.25" at the New Elk Mine. <br />Copies of the laboratory analysis for both sampled events are enclosed <br />Please contact me if there are any questions or if additional information is required. <br />Sin <br />onald G.
