STATE OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF MINERALS AND GEOLOGY
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Phone: (303) 866-3567
FAX: (303) 832-8106
December 3, 2003
Mr. Frank Self
Trapper Mining, Inc.
P.O. Walther
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cottony
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division has reviewed Trapper Mining Int.'s Third Quarter 2003 Colorado Wastewater Discharge
Monitoring reports. TMI's third quarter 2003 DMRs were received by the Division, on October 14,
2003. The reports cover the time period from July 1, 2003 through September 30, 2003. Timely
submittal of these reports is in compliance with Rule 4.05.13(2)(a)(iii)
Two outfalls discharged during third quarter 2003; outfa11002 discharged routinely throughout the
quarter. Outfa11020 dischazged from the second week in July until the end of the reporting period. No
reported parameters were found to be in excess of CPDS standazds for either of the ponds that
dischazged. WET tests were conducted for outfalls 002 and 020. No exceedences were reported for
outfa11020. WET test results for outfa11002 were not submitted with the third quarter report but TMI
states that they will be submitted with the fourth quarter DMRs. The pre-printed DMR form for outfall
016 did not print correctly. Outfa11016 did not dschazge during the third quarter. TMI needs to make it
clear which outfall each DMR applies to, primarily if the pre-printed format is skewed. TMI stated in
the cover letter that they provided precipitation and temperature records with the DMR forms to
document weather conditions on the site. No precipitation or temperature records were received with
the third quarter DMR reports.
Thank you for the timely submittal of these reports.
Janet Binn ~
Environme al Pro\ Specialist
C:/jhb/C81010/DMR's/3rd Q 2003.doc
Cc: Dan Hernandez, DMG
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
