Collins, CO 80526
RE: Letters of Comment, Parkdale Project, 112 Permit Application, File No. M-97-054
Dear Mr. Gast:
Please find enclosed copies of two letters the Division has received from individuals commenting
on Agile Stone systems proposed Parkdale Project. These letters are either addressed to the
Fremont County Boazd of Commissioners or are addressing a county conditional use permit. These
commentors will be asked whether they wish to reference your state reclamation permit application
and if so, to resubmit their letters accordingly.
One of the letters is from Mazk and Jacque Brown. The list of comments contains two items our
Division and the Board most likely will not address under the Colorado Land Reclamation Act for
the Extraction of Construction materials and the Construction Materials Regulations. These items
are the second and fourth on the list. The first refers to Fremont County's master plan in regard to
preserving scenic highway 50. The other is the traffic hazazd of trucks using road 157 and US
highway 50. These items are considered local government issues. The other items on the list are all
issues the Division and the Boazd can consider in reviewing and making a decision regazding the
permit application. These issues should all be addressed by the applicant during the review process.
It may be helpful if you could discuss these issues directly with Mazk and Jacque Brown.
The other letter from the Fremont County Weed Advisory Board expresses a concern that the
project could result in the spread of the noxious weed "leafy spurge". If you have not done so
please address this likely problem in an addition to the application or responses to a Division
adequacy letters. It may be beneficial if you would contact the Weed Advisory Board directly for
advice on how to prevent this potential problem.
