TRAPPCR ~ININGr INC.
III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
999

January 12,1995
Mr. Jon Kubic
Colorado Departmen~of Health
Water Qu ntrol Division
43 erry Creek Drive South
endale, CO 80222-1530
JAIL 17 1995
Division of Minerals s Geology
SubJect: Colorado Wastewater Dlscbarge, Permit CO-0032115, Trapper Mlning Inc.
Dear Mr. Kubic:
Trapper Mine would like to amend our Discharge Permit, CO-0032115, to reflect changes to our
operation in 1995. This request is to add a new discharge point as shown on the enclosed Figure 4
and to reduce sampling in selected drainages.
Add New Discharge Point - 017.Oak Gulch
a) Two sediment ponds will be built during the summer months.
b) Receiving waters are Oak Gulch
c) The Parshall Flume will be located within the spillway of Pond No. 2
d) This discharge is to handle storm water runoff and possible mine dewatering.
1n addition, active mining has ceased in the West Buzzard (NPDFS 006}, East Buzzard (NPDES
003), and Far East Buzzard (NPDES 014) drainages. Surface areas affecting these discharges
have been recontoured, topsoil replaced, and seeded. Therefore, please consider these discharges
for reduced sampling.
Finally, active mining is also complete in the Coyote (NPDES 005) Drainage. Spoils recontouring,
topsoil replacement and seeding of the mined surface areas are wmplete. A small portion of an
inactive haul road and two small storage areas remain. We feel this drainage should also be
considered for reduced sampling. This would include discontinuing the collection of the seep
volume data from this discharge point.
Jon, contact Larry Henderson of my staff if you have any questions or require additional
information.
Sincerely, ~~
Forrest V.
