«. <br />!l <br /> <br />conglomerates. ..The sandstones and conglomerates are generally a <br />buff-color, while the remaining, beds vary widely in color from <br />' maroon to green. <br />Pre-Tertiary <br />The Uinta Mountain Group rocks (Cold Springs Mountain) are princi- <br />pally dark maroon, arkosic sandstones, the Younger Limestone Ridge <br />is composed of fine grained, d ®se, light colored limestone. Rocks <br />ranging from upper CreCaceous m cuddle Paleozoic-age are found <br />within a few miles south of the application site. <br />III. MINERALS <br />This area is considered minera;< in character for leasable and <br />' ~ :saleable minerals and has some potential for locatable minerals: <br />Leasable (011 and Gas, Coal) <br />• The area i.s presently under oil and gas lease. Producing wells <br />are within a few miles north a ~ northeast of the area. Coal is <br />not known to exist in the immediate area, but possibly may be <br />present in/under the Wasatch Formation. Gravel removal should <br />' not interfere with possible gas-oil production, providing that the <br />- gravel is removed prior to futsse drilling and production activities. <br />Locatable <br />Tliis writer found no field evince of locatable mineral activity <br />- _ in tl~e subject area. Title search revealed no claims on or within <br />- 'Z mile of the subject area. <br />Saleable ~ ~ - <br />Sand and gravels are abuttdant 1>-om the Browns Park Formation on <br />ridges adjacent to the application area. The proposed site contains <br />an estimated 1,000,000 cubic .yards of suitable material. Easily <br />20 times, this,quantity is obtainable within four miles north and <br />- one mile south of the site. Amther site, containing approximately <br />2,000,000 cubic yards of somewlst altered, similar gravel, is lo- <br />Gated about one mile south of the mouth of Irish Canyon - 8 or 9 <br />• miles south of the proposed site. Any of the deposits contain some <br />- um.•anted clay and silt, and wi3T require crushing to obtain suitable <br />gradations. <br />Issuance of a permit and removal of the gravel will benefit the <br />local area and public in general by improving the road system serv- <br />ing the area. <br />Although no current market valze.exists for the area, an in-place <br />value of 25C/yard is considered a fair appraisal market valve for <br />- ~ the area. <br />IV. CONCLUSIONS <br />
