BACKGROUND <br />This report applies to the Moffat County Road Department Free Use Permit <br />application, as shown on the attached map. <br />Physical Setting: <br />The subject area is about 17'~ miles north-northwest of Greystone, 11 miles <br />southwest of Hiawatha, Colorado, and 4 miles north of the upper end of <br />Irish Canyon. Tl~e site is on a gravelly terrace remnant, elevation 7200 <br />to 7280 feet, on the east flank of Limestone Ridge, off Cold Springs Mountain. <br />II. GEOLOGY <br />Tl~e and plateau north and east of Cold Springs Mountain is a southern ex- <br />tension of the S~yoming province to the north. The plateau is predominantly <br /> <br />
