' EXHIBIT B
Mining Plan
'
The current operator of this clay mine began his operation in 1977.
The area mined since 1976 is indicated on the mining plan map. Underground
clay mining has been conducted on the site for about 40 years.
The operator has indicated a projected recovery rate of approximately
4,000 tons per year. The average overburden is 80% comprised primarily of
4 inches of topsoil underlain by 6 feet of sandstone and 5 feet of clay, of
which about 30% remains of the original deposit as pillars beneath the sand-
stone cap rock. Using a 5 foot average clay seam thickness and an annual
' production rate of 4,000 tons it is projected that one surface acre per
year will be disturbed.
Less than one-half acre of additional land is occupied by haul roads
' and stock outs.

The mining plan will consist of topsoil removal by dozers and the stock-~
' piling of the topsoil. The sandstone cap may have to be drilled and blasted
' before it can be removed to a stockout to be used later for fill. It is
anticipated that the stock out area for topsoil can be established in ~

' previously mined areas. The deposit will be excavated to an approximate
maximum depth of 15 feet by front end loader which places the material on
' d
k
f
t
d
li
i
t
i
P
bl
t
d
ump
ruc
s
or
e
very to a process
ng si
e
o opera
e
n
ue
by
Summit Brick Co. No water usage is anticipated at the mine site and no
surface or ground water should be retained.
As the mining progresses, and the topsoil can be redistributed, it will ~
be redistributed according to the reclamation plan sited later herein. Mining
1
operations at this pit are intermittent and occur not more than 60 days cf
' the year and only as this clay type is needed by the brick factory in their
operations.
1
