Dept. of Natural Resource <br />We, Horn Ranches, Inc., intend to start operation by first removing <br />top soil from approximately one-third of the area. This will be done <br />with a dozer or loader or both. As soil in this area is very shallow, <br />two inches to four inches, care will be taken in removal to save as much <br />as possible. This top soil will be stock piled and seeded with rye grass <br />or oats as necessary to prevent blowing. <br />As soon as possible the area will be shaped and graded. The slope <br />cail], not exceed 3:1. The remainder of the area will be at 200:1 or 300:1 <br />sloping to the North to prevent standing water. <br />This area will then be sxarified to provide a good bond between <br />substration and the top soil. The top soil will then be spread with a <br />dump truck and loader. Decomposed manure will be added at this time at <br />a rate of at least 2 ton per acre. Seeded preparation rill be the next <br />stop, This area will be disked and harrowed to mix the manure with the <br />top soil. A packer (small farm type then will be used to produce a <br />firm seed bed, The seed will be drilled to a depth of 1~4 to 1~2 inch. <br />Drilling Trill be done in the fall just prior to the ground freezing. <br />Seed used will be: <br />Nordan - Crested Wheat 250 of mix 1.25 pounds per acre <br />Vinall - Russian Wild Rye 25~ of mix 1.25 pounds per acre <br />Luna - Pubescent 'rlheat 50/ of mix 4.5 pounds per acre. <br />This area Trill be used for grazing. <br />
