West Elk Mine <br />~. Literature Seazch <br />The historic Buildings and Sites file of the Colorado Historical Society and the Archaeological <br />Survey file of the Office of the State Archaeologist were examined for previously recorded sites <br />after the completion of the field surveys. No evidence was found indicating the existence of known <br />sites in the vicinity of the survey. Therefore, there aze no sites on the National Register of Historic <br />Places located in the project azea. <br />Additional literature searches were conducted by Western Cultural Resource Management in <br />September 1993, and April 1994. The seazches identified 15 cultural resource reports including the <br />ones previously mentioned. Those reports are listed in Exhibit I OA, <br />A literature seazch was also conducted by Westem Cultural Resource Management in September <br />1996, prior to the field work for the Sylvester Gulch facilities azea. <br />West Elk Mine azchaeological surveys have been forwazded to the State Archaeologist and State <br />Historical Society for their review and cleazance.
