I did not have an opportunity to visit the site and
be as specific as we normally are so the seeding recommendations were
' developed to reflect an and landuse of dryland pasture.
The areas surrounding the pit has diffused knapweed that will probably
invade the site when reclamation commences so I would suggest you
include a weed management plan to reduce the amount of noxious weeds
that will invade the cite. Call me if you have any questions.
RANGE SITE - LOAMY PARK
Soils - Jare Tecolate Complex
Post mine landuse - Range .& Pasture
Site conditions - steep slopes
RECOMMENDED GRASS SEEDING:
VARIETY %PLS/AC ~B.II_LEDI~ BROADCAST/AG
Western wheat Arriba 30% 2.4 5.0
Smooth Brome Lincoln 3$% 2.0 4.57
' Intermediate wheatgrass Amur 15% 1.1 2.2
ThicksDiko whoatgrass Critana I7'4 $.8 1.6
Slender wheatgrass Primer 10% ~Q 1.6
1$0% 7.I l4.4
I have recommended a cool season grass mix to provide rabi d cove rag?
and reasonable spread of plants f ollowing planting. There are no wzrm
season grasses in the mix, due to the slow germination and the fact
that the slopes will tend to ba d ry during the hat summer mor.the.
Fertilizer should also be incorpo
is ready for seeding. rated int o the ground whe n the site
Hope this helps you out. The state may require you to p ut in some warn, season
species, but if they accept this mix then you should get a reasonable
stand of grass that protects the resource and provides ade quate forage
' for animals using the cite follow ing reclamation.
Sincerely,
