The surface treatment
system works well for short periods; however, extended usage causes sludge handling problems
which jeopazdize the performaace of the polishing ponds.
Five portable 16,000 gallon tanks have been brought on site to be modified t~ clarifiers
to prevent the deterioration of polishing capabilities, while allowing for the additional time
required to bring the underground system online. These clarifiers will be located ne:R to the ~Yl
shaft hoist house, which contains the sodium hydroxide bulk storage tank and the heat
exchangers for the main intake shaft. From this facility the mine water and treatment chemicals
can be delivered to the temporary clarification cinnrit.
Enclosed is a diagram of the proposed temporary clarification circuit and an updated
process deseripdon.
Please contact me if I can be of further assistance.
Sincerely,
~~E Lt/" G~ / /-
Mitchell W.
