<br />INTRODUCTION <br />It is the policy of the State of Colorado that the fish and wildlife and <br />their environments are to be protected, preserved, enhanced and managed foz <br />the use, benefit and enjoyment of the people (33-1-101). WSldllfe is defined <br />in the Colorado Revised Statutes (33-1-102(44)) to mean "wild vertebrates, <br />mollusks, cruateceans and flab." <br />The group listings on the attached check list are in scientific order, atarting <br />with the moat simple life forma end proceeding to the more advanced. Order <br />of presentation within groups follow that !n recognized publications on <br />Colorado wildlife or, in the case of birds, the A.O.U. Revised (1973) Check Liat. <br />Listings include 2 broad categories of mollusks, 11 orders of crustaceans, <br />85 species of fish, 14"species and subspecies of amphibians, 63 species and <br />subspecies of reptiles, 424 species of blyds, and 127 species of mammals. <br />~is list was specifically designed to provide information for the Lmplementatloa <br />of R.B. 1041, the Colorado Land Use Act, enacted on May 17, 1974.
