The required fee of $217.00 for the renewal of this substitute supply plan has been
submitted. The original supply plan was approved on December 3, 2001.
According to the information provided by the applicant this site will be dewatered while it
is mined. This plan accounts for the evaporation that occurs wheri the lakes are allowed to fill.
Currently 87.4 acres of lake surface is exposed at the Hokestra site. This consists of 73.3 acres
which were exposed after December 31, 1960 and 14.1 acres which were exposed prior to
January 1, 1981.
Weld County will irrigate 6.9 acres of reclaimed area around the pond at the Weld
County Service Center. This area will be irrigated using water pumped from the lake during the
growing season. According to the plan, 13.1 acre-feet of water will be pumped from the lake to
irrigate the pasture grass. Of the water pumped for irrigation, 11.1 acre-feet of water will be
consumed and 2 acre-feet will be returned to the stream system.
Consumptive use from the operation of this site consists of 4.4 acre-feet of water lost in
product (4% moisture of 150,000 tons of raw material), 8.4 acre-feet for on-site dust control and
189 acre-feet of evaporation from 73.3 acres of lake surface exposed after December 31, 1980.
The total consumption at this site from mining operations and irrigation is 212.9 acre-feet.
The source of replacement water is 3.75 shares of the Rural Ditch, leased reusable
water from the St. Vrain & Left Hand Water Conservancy District and leased reusable water
from the City of Greeley.
This plan proposes to store excess river credits attributable to the 3.75 shams of Rural
Ditch. The excess river credits which accrue to the stream system in June, July and August will be
stored in the Varra Pit No. 112, which lies directly to the south of the Hokestra Property and across
the Rural Ditch. It is estimated that 61.6 acre-feet of excess credits will accrue to the stream
system during this period which will be available for storage. According to the reservoir operations
