RECLAMATION COSTS
General
~~
It is difficult to estimate the reclamation rusts since much of the sail
excavation and moving will be simultaneous with the mining operations.
Mining and processing of gravel is only a part of the costs of the materials
at the delivery site. The costs of haul determines the boundaries or econ-
omically selling materials Yemoved from any given pit. It is therefore
absolutely necessary to have many gravel pits located throughout the area,
thereby eliminating the necessity of long hauls. This will not only
reduce the cos[ of materials to the consumer but will greatly reduce the
demand on energy to move said materials.
It is planned [o move the soil to the locations where it is needed as tl~e
• overburden is removed. After mining is completed, the ground will be shaped
and the topsoil put in place.
The principal reclamation costs other than the above will be for contouring
and for planting of the grasses or other ground coverings as required.
This cost should not exceed $100.00 per acre.
L-1
