I am currently
in the process of stunmarizing those comments, performing additional analyses that will address
some of the concerns that have been raised, and preparing responses to the comments that will
then be incorporated into the permit rationale.
One very important issue that has been raised in the comments, and which I needed to contact
you about anyway, is the rate of infiltration that is likely to occur within the ponds located at
points 002A, 003A and 004A. And, what may or may not be a sepazate issue depending upon
the geologic setting, is the infiltration rates expected to occur within the catchment azeas draining
into these ponds.
As part of our settlement discussions, it was the Division's understanding that CC&V would be
providing some estimates of infiltration rates, at least within each of the settling ponds at issue.
We have not yet received this information.
At this point is time, it is important that we aze provided with some indication of the infiltration
rates that aze likely to occur, at least within the settling ponds. Data supporting CC&V's
estimates of runoff volumes, as required to be collected by the permit itself, would also be
helpful.
