Otto Goemmer
box albs
La Veta, Colorado 81055
RE: Rocky Flat Gravel
Our File 1E82-129
Dear Mr. Goemmer:
~~,~,
David C. Shelton
Director
I have reviewed your application for a limited impact mining and reclamation
permit for the above captioned operation. I have several questions and
comments concerning this application that I have organized on an exhibit-by-
exhibit basis below. Any exhibits or parts thereof not mentioned are considered
adequate at this time. The matters mentioned in [his letter must be resolved
before the scheduled, June 23-24, 1982 Board meeting. In this way, I will
be able to recommend that the Board approve the application.
Before the Board can consider this application, I will need proof of the two
sequential weeks of publication (publisher's affidavit or copies of publications)
and proof of the notifications to adjacent landowners (certified mail return
receipts or copies thereof). Please contact me and ask if there are any
questions about these procedures.
Exhibits B and C
1. The mining plan is much too brief. More information is needed
beyond merely the equipment to be used. The plan should be detailed
enough to illustrate items such as the depth~of mining, thevdirection
of mining, the underlying material, the slope of the working faces,
the duration of`~the mining operation, the typical`~yearly production,
and any other details of the operation that will contribute to an
understanding of how the operation will be conducted.
2. The map should have more details of the mining operations. The
following items should be shown on the map: a) topsoil stockpiles,
b) boundary of 7.5 acre proposed permit area, c) fixed equipment
(screening plant), d) adjacentvlandowners, e) diversion structures to be
used to protect irrigation ditch, f) crossing structure for irrigation
ditch, g) arrow showing direction of mining, h) product stockpile locations,
and any other items that will contribute to an understanding of the mining
and/or reclamation of the site.
