INTRODUCTION <br />Western Equipment & Truck Inc. is applying for a Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology <br />(CDMG) Regular "112" Permit to mine sand and gravel from the proposed Two Rivers Rock <br />Sand and Gravel mine located in the Town of Milliken Colorado north of the old town center <br />(see Exhibit B, Index Map) The property consists of approximately 49 acres in the southwest''/4 <br />of section2, Township 4 North, Range 67 West. The property is located ] /8 mile east of Colo. <br />Highway 257 and includes the confluence of the Big Thompson and Little Thompson Rivers. <br />The property currently consists of pasture land and several ponds from a previous gravel <br />operation. Western Equipment & Truck owns the surface property, sand and gravel rights, and <br />water rights. <br />The material produced at this site would be trucked to market by Western Equipment & Truck <br />and independent haulers. A portion of the materials will be used on adjoining property owned by <br />Western Equipment & Truck in construction related to their Planned Unit Development. The life <br />of the operation is anticipated to be 6 to 12 years depending on market conditions. <br />Surrounding land uses in the immediate vicinity include limited residences and agricultural <br />lands. <br />The final reclamation for the permit site will be for water storage reservoir surrounded by an <br />impermeable PVC liner installed on the 1:3 sloped banks and keyed into the clay/ shale <br />bedrock. The pond maybe divided into two ponds at the option of the operator and the buyer of <br />the storage rights. <br />The reservoir pond will support wetland vegetation at the shorelines and provide wildlife habitat <br />for resting waterfowl. The pond will cover approximately 25 total acres with the remainder of the <br />permit area consisting of reclaimed shoreline and setback areas.
