SPILL PREVENTION CONTROL PLAN (SPCC)
Nati~o21 Ping Coal Mine
Hesperus, Colorado
This document outlines site characteristics and the physical measures which have been
implemented by National King Coal Mine in an effort to mitigate potential spills of sediments
from the site.
1. There aze no ephemeral streams on the site. The two natural drainages flow only during
moderate to large rainstorm events. This greatly limits the source of water which could carry
sediments downstream.
2. The outslopes of both sedimentation ponds are stabilized by vegetation greatly limiting erosion
potential and providing a natural filter to trap sediment.
3. The entrance road slopes are vegetated and check dams were constructed in the ditches to trap
any sediment being carried off of the road during rainstorms.
prepared by: Don R. May, P.E.
